Who's that on your face?

Last years end of term project ended in my Living Dolls collection which I didn't feel was my strongest work, I lost my way a bit!
Prior to this I continued my work looking at characters in particular drag queens and trans gender. I think the narrative of my work wasn't the strongest but I enjoyed creating the characters and liked the final images.

New artist research. Orlan.

I've been researching some artists for my dissertation and my studio practice. Again I've been looking at artists with alter egos or alternative characters or artists who become other characters for their art.
Today I've been looking at Orlan and artist who has been working professionally for years, she looks at image and identity and constantly changes her identity using plastic surgery, the surgery becomes her performances.
She 'baptised' herself Sainte-Orlan in 1971 and this was the beginning if her identity change.
I have taken some books out of the Margaret Street library on Orlan and her image change is phenomenal, as a you artist she was very beautiful, natural now as Orlan she is beautiful in a different way, as an art piece. She is her art.
